Any and All Questions Are Welcome!

Q: If I have an "S" or "CR" grade in one of my classes, let's say Physics 2, that's required to enter dental school. Will this class be accepted? Or do I need to take this class again?

A:  For a majority of dental schools, "CR", "S", and "P" grades are not accepted for prerequisite courses so I would highly recommend retaking this course to improve your strength as an applicant. If there is a specific dental school, you intended on applying to I would also recommend calling or emailing their admissions office with any questions. Additionally, a detailed summary of dental school requirements and costs can be found in our "pre-dental timeline" and "dental school finances" slides under the meeting notes section of our website! I hope this helps!

Q: Where can I find virtual shadowing opportunities with dentists?

A: Here are some accounts that are holding virtual shadowing session: @smileshadowers @predentaluniverse @dentalshadowers !

Q:  Where do you find the Intent to Apply and Autobiographical Packet forms? I don't see it on the SBU website.

A: Both forms are on the google classroom for the committee letter. Instructions to join can be found here

Q: If you took the Q course and there is no permanent infarction on your transcript, does it still count and need to be reported on the AADSAS?

A: Although there is no infraction on your transcript there may still be a record of academic dishonesty. I would suggest meeting with your pre-health advisor to discuss exactly what information will be disclosed before moving forward!

Q: What are the requirements to get into dental school?

A: All dental schools have their own requirements for admission--always check the schools you're interested in to find out what they require! Below is a brief list of "requirements" to consider when preparing to apply to dental school:
